September Recap + October TBR

Hi friends!

I’m not sure about you, but September flew by for me! I’m happy with the serious progress toward my Beat the Backlist Challenge this month, helping my Gryffindor team remain in the lead! Yay!

I was bummed to have to DNF two books I was extremely excited about reading. I stuck it out with both books for a while before realizing I really wasn’t enjoying what I was reading and my mind was constantly wandering to other subjects. I hate when that happens, but life’s too short to read something we aren’t enjoying. I didn’t stay strict to my TBR in September either, adding and removing a few books depending on the mood I was in. I find that helps fight a dreaded book slump.

In October, I’ll see what I’m made of. I’m planning to read The Shining, which will be my first horror novel by Stephen King. I think @reading.betweenthewines‘s buddy read will help me power through if I get spooked. I used to strictly read horror for a time in my late teens, but I haven’t given the genre much attention since I’ve had children.
Wish me luck!

Have a wonderful October, everyone! Happy Reading.

I DNF 3 this month! 😱 all 3 we’re highly anticipated and had good reviews….but I’m the outlier 😩 I’m getting better at moving on when I experience feelings of dread over joy!

    1. That’s always so tough but I’m getting better at letter the guilt go about DNFing.

  2. It’s fine to dnf a book. It’s actually pretty freeing to just walk away when something is just not working.

    1. It really is a load off, knowing you don’t have to trudge through it.
