13. Have you ever had the privilege of converting someone into a reader (maybe via inspiration or incessant nagging)?
14. Describe what books mean to you in five words.

1. What is the longest amount of time you can comfortably go without picking up a book?

After about two days, I feel like I’m going crazy if I haven’t read. I need time to slow my brain down and focus on something simple and quiet. If I don’t get that chance, it means life is probably more hectic than I would like for it to be.

2. How many books do you carry on your person (or kindle) at any one time?

I don’t usually take a book with me since I have three young children that always need my attention when we’re out and about. If I’m alone and know I will have some time to read, I’ll always take my Kindle or my current read.

3. Do you keep every book you buy/receive or are you happy to pass them on to make space for more?

Only recently have I started donating my old books or swapping them with others on Instagram for books I haven’t yet read. I used to keep everything, but my shelves started overflowing and I needed room for unread books.

4. How long would you spend in a bookshop on a standard visit?

Um, forever? I usually am dragged out long before I’m ready to go.

5. How much time per day do you actually spend reading?

About an hour each weekday and as much as my family will allow on weekends. Not enough. 😉

6. Where does the task ‘picking up a book’ appear on your daily to-do list?

Every night before bed, provided I’m not too tired to keep my eyes open after a long day with my children. Sometimes I can squeeze in a few minutes while I cook dinner.

7. How many books do you reckon you own in total (including e-books)?

I counted them up at the beginning of the year and it was about 400-500. I imagine the number is close to the same now because I haven’t bought many books this year.

8. Approximately how often do you bring up books in conversation?

It depends on who I’m speaking with. In normal adult conversation, infrequently, unless I’m speaking with a known book lover. 😉 With my husband and kids, books will come up every few hours.

9. What is the biggest book (page count) you have finished reading?

10964. sy475

The Outlander books. I think one of them was 1100-some pages.

10. Is there a book that you had to get your hands on against all odds (i.e. searching the bookshops, online digging, etc.)?

Countless books. I scour used book stores for the chance of an Indie castoff.

5308

11. A book you struggled to finish but refused to DNF?

Most books for school, like The Pearl and The Old Man and the Sea

12. What are 3 of your main book goals for 2019?

  1. Read 115+ books.
  2. Make significant progress on the books I already own.
  3. Finish a few Classics I’ve always wanted to read.

13. Have you ever had the privilege of converting someone into a reader (maybe via inspiration or incessant nagging)?

My daughter is an avid reader. She reads infinitely more than I did as a child. This is something I haven’t pushed because I don’t want her to hate it – I think she’s simply following my example.

14. Describe what books mean to you in five words.

Connection, rest, community, learning, & happiness!

That’s so amazing that you have 400/500 books! I would love to get to that stage but I mostly buy ebooks so they are nearly all on my kindle. Thanks so much for tagging me, this looks like a really fun tag and I’m looking forward to doing it!
