After the Green Withered – Blog Tour

Day Two.jpg

I’m so excited to be a part of the first ever blog tour with The Write Reads gang on Twitter. My reading list is stuffed to the gills at the moment, making me opt to do a short review of the first few chapters of After the Green Withered. I can tell you straight away, this will be a book I will revisit as soon as I have some spare time to finish not only this novel but the sequel as well. I absolutely loved the idea behind this book – a water shortage. It makes perfect sense, yet is something I’ve never read in a Dystopian novel prior to this one. I liked how the first few chapters gave me the feel of a modern classic Dystopian, much like the Hunger Games or Divergent. I was hooked and ready to read more! I want to know what will happen and the challenges the characters will face in this incredibly regulated world. I’m hoping this will be a book where the characters possibly realize the government is lying to them or doesn’t have their best interests at heart. This is one of my favorite aspects of reading the genre and I love the excitement that comes from a few people fighting a big institution, sometimes from the inside. These are just my predictions or hopes of what could be to come, but if you’d like to see what happens next for yourself, be sure to pick up this one!

After the Green Withered: Blurb

They tell me the country looked different back then.

They talk of open borders and flowing rivers.

They say the world was green.

But drought swept across the globe and the United States of the past disappeared under a burning sky.

Enora Byrnes lives in the aftermath, a barren world where water has become the global currency. In a life dominated by duty to family and community, Enora is offered a role within an entity that controls everything from water credits to borders. But it becomes clear that not all is as it seems. From the wasted confines of her small town to the bowels of a hidden city, Enora will uncover buried secrets that hide an unthinkable reality.

As truth reveals the brutal face of what she has become, she must ask herself: how far will she go to retain her humanity?
