Time after time, R.S. Grey proves why she’s one of my favorite authors. Not only does her writing get better with each book, but she was also able to stay true to her hilarious style while tugging on my heartstrings with Hotshot Doc. I sound like a broken record when it comes to my reviews for her books but R.S. Grey really is the Queen of ROM-COM. Her books are perfectly geared toward her readers’ tastes, without ever being silly. The humor is infused into the character’s personalities, coming out in their snappy dialogue and sarcastic thoughts. In her FOURTH release of this year (GO GIRL!), I love that she’s given readers brand new characters we’ve never met before in a story comparable to an amazing episode of Grey’s Anatomy.
Even though it took me forever to read this book because my life during the month of December is outrageous, I’m so glad I was able to make time for it, squeezing in my final pages of this book on release day. It was the perfect nightly read over the past few days, allowing me to unwind after each day’s craziness, and be completely sucked into the medical world of Bailey and Matt. I was impressed by R.S. Grey’s use of a different type of surgery for Matt to be involved in. We’re so used to neurologists and cardiologists, even gynecologists in the book world (ha!), it was refreshing to learn about spinal surgery without being inundated with details. I felt like I understood Matt and Bailey’s professions without feeling grossed out by in-depth descriptions of the surgery, too, which was a huge bonus!
By now, I’m sure you guys know I LOVE a great enemies-to-lovers story and this one was perfectly done. The angst between these two was off the charts. I loved Bailey’s drive and selfless personality as we were able to witness her care for her younger sister, Josie, matched with Matt’s empathy disguised beneath his gruff persona. As these two butted heads, I couldn’t help but fall in love with what I knew was sure to come. When the lines between love and hate began to blur, I was done for.
Honestly, Hotshot Doc ticked every box I needed it to. It was smart, sweet, and steamy, not to mention the nice Christmas scene applicable to this time of year. I could not get enough of the characters or the fact that R.S. Grey is able to crank out hit after hit, keeping me forever coming back for whatever she’s written. I can’t recommend Hotshot Doc enough, it’s definitely hitting the top of my list of this author’s works. A Place in the Sun still cannot be beaten, but this is a close second!

About HOTSHOT DOC
Dr. Russell has a bad reputation around our hospital. The scrub techs say he’s cold-blooded, the nurses say he’s too cocky for his own good, and the residents say he’s the best surgeon in the world—really, just a swell guy!—on the off chance he’s within earshot.
I try to avoid him and his temper at all costs. It’s just as easy to admire his sexy, grip-it-while-he’s-ravishing-you hair and chiseled jaw from a healthy distance, preferably from the other end of the hallway…half-hidden behind a plant.
Unfortunately, my plan crumbles when my trusty ol’ boss decides to swap his white coat for a Hawaiian shirt. His retirement leaves me with two terrible options: switch specialties and spend months retraining, or take an open position as Dr. Russell’s surgical assistant.
That means I have to stand near him in the OR for hours on end and anticipate his every need without letting his biting words and bad attitude intimidate me. Oh, and as if that’s not difficult enough, my silly crush on him—the one I’ve tried to stomp on until it disappears—might just be reciprocated.
It’s fine.
I’m fine.
I take my job seriously. There will be no smoldering bedroom eyes across the operating table, no angry almost-kisses in the storage closet. (Well, no more of those.)
What’s the phrase? An apple a day keeps the doctor away?
Maybe I should go for a whole damn bushel.

I agree and I would too! It would be awesome to have a follow-up with her when she heads to college in a few years!
