Top Ten Tuesday: Thanksgiving

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

Happy Tuesday, everyone!! Today is a Thanksgiving-themed freebie for Top Ten Tuesday, so I thought it would be a perfect day to practice a little gratitude and list ten things I’m thankful for!

1. God.
At all times, I’m thankful for a loving God. I know I am never truly alone and can turn to Him in all things. My Faith defines my life and without that relationship, I would be lost.

2. My marriage.
My relationship with my husband is my safe space. Sometimes it feels like it’s us against the world, and I truly can’t imagine enduring this planet with anyone else by my side. If I could have drawn my own blueprint for a husband, it would not have been half as good as the guy God put at my side.

3. My children.
When I was a child, dreaming of my future, I would tell myself stories about what my future family would be like. I always wanted to be a mom. I’m thankful to be living those dreams in a better way than I ever imagined. My kids are awesome little people and I love spending every moment with them, even if they drive me batty more often than I like. 😉

4. Friends
I have some really great people in my life who are always there for me whenever I need them. I couldn’t be more grateful for the relationships we have built, especially over the course of the year.

5. Cool weather.
I didn’t realize how much the weather affected my mood until we moved back to Texas. I really struggle with my happiness in the summer because it is often unbearably hot. I prefer cooler weather, not sweating, and the clothes I can wear on cooler days. I love the Fall and Winter in Texas most of all.

6. Health
Health is something we don’t fully appreciate until we lose it. I try to remain thankful for not only my healthy body but my husband’s and children’s as well. I can’t imagine how difficult it must be to fight each day for something many of us take for granted, so I have decided to do my best to consistently be thankful for it. We never know when hard times are coming.

7. Modern Conveniences
Hot running water, a store just down the road with anything I need, a vehicle to drive, a roof over my head, beds for my family, entertainment at our fingertips, etc.

8. Books
Books keep me sane and bring such joy to my life!

9. Experiences
I’m thankful for the places I’ve lived or visited and the experiences I have had while I was there.

10. America
As many issues as our country has, we are still free to do basically anything we want to within the confines of the law. We are able to have families, practice any religion we feel led to, and choose our own careers. This is still a relatively safe country where our children do not have to witness a variety of horrors common in many areas around the world. I choose to be thankful for these things, despite the current mess of political division.

  2. Great list! I agree with you about liking cooler weather and not enjoying the heat. However, I also really dislike winter in Ohio! Happy Thanksgiving!
